Default G&G project: NIght Ops!

It's summer, and a little too hot for me to be out skirmishing, so what do I do, shop too much. I had a new project idea, to build a night Op proficient AEG. I also wanted it to comply with MilSim style of play. So last night I ordered my first G&G AEG after doing a little research and finding a lot of great reviews on their products. I also liked the price. Here is the base replica I ordered:
http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_i...ducts_id=32615
What I like about it is the CQB design, the fact that it is blowback, and the flat top rail. To keep true to the MilSim style, I also ordered a 10 pack of 30 round PMags ($60). To make it Night Op ready, I ordered the following:
1. Echo 1 barrel extender/tracer unit
2. 2000 round .20 green glow in the dark BB's
3. Matrix green laser
4. rail mountable Viper night vision monocle.
I personally think it's going to be pretty cool once it all arrives and gets constructed. I'll take some pics, if anyone wants to see it finished. And I will be using it during the Night Op section of OP Just Revenge.
Feel free to discuss your thoughts on using G&G's in general, or if you have any other sweet night op ready AEG's that you personally own and want to share.

Tracer units are so much fun. Enjoy!

I think it was you who posted those night fight videos, and I was drooling at how freaking awesome they looked. It honestly inspired me to construct this AEG.

Don't be surprised if you find yourself not firing at times due to watching the 'laser light' show of tracers all over the place. Also good to remember that tracers work both ways.
There are some night skirmish tips posted somewhere around here.

Enjoy the new gun.

OP:Midnight Rodeo was the reason I started hunting down a tracer unit. It was intense watching the laser light show of bb streams.

I am interested to see how this project goes.

Just for all to know tracers will be on sale at the op. As well as bb's for them. It makes the night op better when everyones shooting them. It will look good on video.

That's a nice gun WT, can't wait to see it when you're done customizing it!

I'm sure it's going to feel like something out of a sci-fi movie at first! And yes as far as the enemy seeing me, I will implement the good ole' shoot n scoot! On a more serious note, I was going to do my best to mix one half tracer to one half black bb, and see how that works.

Caliban: Thanks man, I am actually astonished by Evike. I ordered 10 products from them in this particular order, and not one was on backorder, and it was shipped by 5pm the following day. It will be here on Thursday the 5th of August. My jaw literally dropped. I ordered another AEG from them back in Apr, and it took nearly a month to arrive. My point is, I will have it in my hands next week, and I should have pictures up soon after!

The tracer mix ratio works pretty well, but still use shifting positions because the flash from the tracer unit will light off on every round, regardless if it is tracer round or not. Semi-auto fire is also a big thumbs-up to alleviate the aforementioned track-back concerns.

Wow, that is real good to know! I had not thought about that, but it makes total sense.
__off topic__ I remember you saying you have another baby on the way (early congrats) but it sure would be nice to have you on the NATO side for OP Just Revenge! You are pretty much the Holy Grail of airsoft knowledge.
