I bought mine at a skirmish for $40 with a metal outer barrel, and at the time my only other gun was my HFC Glock 17, (full-plastic :P). I had used it previously, and although, without hop-up, it's useless short of 20 feet, it shoots around 300-325 range on green gas. This pistol, however, is very picky, and if you don't gas is just right, it only gets about 8-10 shots of before it runs out, but, I bought mine used. Mags are only about $30 a piece though, and it still functions decently as a side arm.
