History: Mikhail T. Kalashnikov designed the AK-47(Avtomat Kalashnikova) rifle for U.S.S.R's Red Army as a light-weight, easy to use, hard-hitting rifle for motorized infantry. The gas-operated design was innovative. It was capable of semi-automatic or automatic fire modes. The 1947 version of the AK47 was eventually adopted into general service in 1949.

Pros: Solid construction; easy to disassemble; Ver3 mechbox; long inner barrel
Cons: small screw tab on top cover always breaks; slightly annoying to route the wires correctly under the top cover; stock screws known to come loose and get lost

The TM AK47 is known as one of the most solid AEGs out of the box on the market. The long inner barrel and Ver3 mechbox make it a great platform to handle virtually any upgrades. The fake wood furniture looks fantastic and is durable. While there are not a plethora of accessories that one can customize the AK family with, there are scope mounts, RIS kits, replacement selector levers, real wood furniture kits, metal bodies, and also the custom imagination of the buyer. Additional cosmetic parts are also being planned for release.

Typical of any Airsoft replica on the market, there are some weak points about the gun, but these are very minor and should not influence the buyer from considering this AEG. Make sure to apply thread locker to the stock screws as they are known to come loose and be lost. In addition, if you work on the gun, be sure not to overtighten the small screw that holds the top cover to the receiver, as that tab will break from stress. This warrants the 9 rating I gave the replica because the problems do not affect the functionality or performance of the gun.

Pros: Reliable (Ver. III Mechbox), Accurate out of the box, Hi-caps, Metal, Fake wood looks decent
Cons: Screws, Front sight becomes loose, Rear sling mount is weak

When I first started looking into buying an AEG, an AK is what I wanted, and somehow, I bought an SR-16 :P. But now I found my true calling. The TM AK is a great package, it has an abundance of metal, the front sights/set, outer barrel, upper receiver, and selector switch. Also the AK is one of the more accurate AEGs out there due to the barrel length. Hi-caps boast the highest capacity at 600 rounds, ample for spraying (I mean support, lol). With a .20, the TM AK gets about 280 FPS or so, as with most Marui AEGs. Lastly, the superb construstion of the gun itself is incredible. My airsoft group in my area predominately uses AKs, and for almost two years straight of rough use, none have suffered any problems (with the exception of sling mounts). Also, the Ver III mechbox is most likely one of the best mechboxes Marui has put in a gun; it's simply bullet-proof.
