The Company Line
When the Army Rangers approached Wiley-X two years ago they wanted them to design a ballistic goggle that the military could wear for all around use. The Rangers wanted something they could jump with, use during close quarters combat as well as have basic sun protection in their down time. Two years in development the SG-1 system has met all the challenges posed.
This patented low profile goggle functions perfect as a jump goggle. It stays firmly in place and its' aerodynamic lines cut through the wind. Once on the ground the goggle performs better than any sand, dust or wind goggle ever imagined. Wiley-X's "Ultra Foam" is a rubber based rim that is much more durable than traditional goggle foam. It also provides a much better seal around the ocular ridge keeping foreign objects and particles from the users field of vision. "Ultra Foam" is also the only foam that can be customized based on environment and operations being conducted. Notches are intentionally manufactured into the foam so sections can be removed. This allows more ventilation if conducting intense operations in humid conditions. If the conditions are very dry, where sand, dust, and wind is a prominent concern, then the foam remains as is. (Please Note: Ultra Foam cannot be replaced once removed.) This goggle has been widely heralded for its performance in sandstorms experienced by the troops conducting both OEF and OIF.
The SG-1's streamlined design fits better under all issued helmets and is more functional given the interchangeable, two lens package. Wiley-X's wrap back technology drastically improves peripheral vision, plus the lenses can be interchanged providing day and night protection. Each ballistic lens is layered with our proprietary anti-fog, and scratch resistant coatings providing perfect optical clarity and protection. The SG-1 is currently the only goggle that truly functions with NVG's.
Lastly the product can be converted from a goggle into a functional, ballistic sunglass providing all around use. This is the only true ballistic, modular goggle ever produced. Each SG-1 system comes with two sets of ballistic, anti-fog lenses (clear and tinted), elastic strap, temples and case for storage.

*** Update Dec 20th, 2004 ***
I hate to report a change of opinion.
After using the product for near a year, I\'ve finally found the time to post that this product slowly but surely became unreliable and unusable.
I don\'t know how or why, but the goggle would start to fog the moment I put it on. I tried cleaning it, I tried anti-fog, I tried spit, I tried anything you can think of short of going out there without goggles.
The biggest issue other than that is that in the Texas heat, there is a LOT of sweat. With these goggles, sweat has nowhere to go and due to the low profile, it splashes against the lens and that\'s worse than fog. Imagine driving in a severe rainfall without windshield wipers.
So, unfortunately, I am switching my rating. I think the product is still very good. I really like the slim profile, and for someone that has less of a fogging issue than I do, I suggest it.
Try at your own risk.
OLD POST
Before I begin: I think this is the best goggle/glasses purchase anyone can make.
It is the standard to which all other goggles should compare.
I\'ve used these in the Texas heat and humidity (along with the Wiley-X CQC), and this functions like a dream. Everyone around me complains about lack of vision or fog -- and I just don\'t get any. When it seems to want to fog, a simple push on the middle section of the goggle will release the moisture. This goggle even surpasses the CQCs in terms of performance and \"wear-a-bility\".
While the CQC allows for full visibility, it still seems a bit confined in comparison to the SG-1s. The SG-1 fit on your face like a glove and because of that they create the lowest profile possible. This low profile insures that you have full-field visibility. It is also extremely comfortable - to the point that you might forget you are wearing them.
You receive two lenses with the initial purchase - the fog lens and the clear lens. I prefer the look of the fog lens, but when you are deep in the forest or approaching dusk -- the clear comes in handy. The best part is ... it takes about 10 seconds to switch. Pop the lens out, stow away and pop the other in. It is THAT easy.
The only drawback, and this is niggling, is that they feel extremely cheap. The reason for this is the same reason the CQCs feel cheap. The frame is extremely flexible, so as to prevent breaking. The cheap feeling is intentional. They are by no means a cheap product.
If you buy one goggle for yourself - this should be it.
The only real issue someone could have with them is that they feel safer with a larger goggle. If that\'s the case - go with the CQC. Otherwise - this should be your first purchase in the world of airsoft.
