Description: PK-01 red dot sight was specifically designed to military specifications for use on AKM, AK74, RPK, RPK74 and other various modification of the Kalashnikov weapons system. It is now available as a set with standard 30 mm Weaver/Picatinny mounting rings instead of the AK mounting bracket and is mountable on any Weaver/Picatinny mounting base. Not only it is waterproof, shockproof and would generally handle the most adverse field conditions, it is also very light and compact. Just like other well designed red dot sights, PK-01 offers unrestricted field of view and two-eye aiming for rapid target acquisition and area awareness.
The following are some additional features of the PK-01 scope:
-automatically adjusting red dot brightness level
-comes standard with 30 mm Weaver/Picatinny mounting rings
-waterproof and nitrogen filled (for fogging prevention)
-removable sunshade
-uses common type tablet batteries
-long battery life

Pros: Solid, inexpensive, small MOA reddot
Cons: Switch is not well-designed; dot could be brighter; eats batteries

If you are looking for a Russian reddot for your AK replica, there seem to be limited choices. The Kobra often comes to mind, but some people don\'t like the open-len reflex-type sights. In addition, the Kobra can be pricey.

One nice option is this product. It is a tube-style reddot, similar to a Aimpoint or BSA. 30mm rings are used to mount it, so only the mount base needs to be changed, which means the sight can be transitioned easily to various weapons.

The reddot on this product is very small when compared to other reddot sights. Other reddots commonly use 3-4 MOA dots, so they are easy to see, but this one uses a 1 MOA dot, which is nice in that the dot doesn\'t take up a lot of your view, but is also a negative in that the dot can be tougher to locate quickly. This could be alleviated by making the dot a bit brighter.

This product comes in two flavors:
1. Auto-adjusting reddot brightness
2. Manual-adjustment reddot brightness

I purchased the auto-adjusting model to see how it worked out. By using a photocell, the dot brightness automatically changes according to how much ambient light is present. This feature actually works well, in that I could move the weapon from light to dark areas and see the dot brightness vary accordingly.

The other nuance I didn\'t care for is the on/off switch. It is rather difficult to turn and no positive, tactile feel for when it is on, besides a couple painted-on dots on the switch that line up to indicate it is powered on. Thus, I don\'t really trust that and always to check if the dot is on or off through the tube. The other annoying aspect is that this sight goes through batteries quickly, especially when compared to an Aimpoint.

While I haven\'t been using this reddot long, I am pleased with it thus far. Time will tell about its\' durability and battery life.

It is not on par with the Aimpoint CompM2, but it does appear to be a nice authentic Russian reddot for those wanting a Russian look to AK or other replicas. Furthermore, the affordable price makes it attractive as well, and thus far, it appears to be durable and offer good performance.
