No sir.....that would be the russian SVT-40.
He is just posing with it due to the lack of a mauser right now.
Though many times on the ost front could you find a german carrying an SVT.

The german response to the M-1 garand would be the Gew.43 semiautomatic rifle. The SVT-40 was a design requirment for a new Soviet semi-auto infantry rifle, intended to replace the M/N 91-30. It was a successor to the SVT-38 and AVS-36/37, and improved greatly on the design. The SVT-40 never replaced the mosin due to its increased complexity in maintenance and construction, however over two million were produced.
