I have recently had chats with several new people who were a bit put off by attitudes they've encountered on their first time out with NTA players. Having heard the same thing from different sources, i wanted to kinda touch on something that I think is really important.

Firstly let me address the old dogs. I know what its like to be used to running with a HSLD group and then have the 1 FNG in the crowd bring you down, however, i want to urge everyone who has been doing this awhile to have as much patience as possible with the new guys. They are, in essence, the future of airsoft. If you are too hard on them and they quit coming, that will catch up to us in the long run. if they don't quit, but then play with a less safe or less organized group instead, they may develop the wrong kind of habits. Our first impression is important. To be clear, no one has complained that NTA has been unkind or unwelcoming in terms of greeting, chatting, or hanging out with new people... but it seems that when we get on the field, our game faces come on a little strong. Just remember that not everyone has military backgrounds, military training, or even maybe knows wth is going on yet.

Secondly, i want to address the new people. If you are coming into the community, don't be afraid to do a little research on what you're getting into. Read the rules. Know the concepts. you can acquire A LOT of knowledge about airsoft before playing. Don't assume you know everything already because you've been playing CoD since it came out. Pay attention to what is going on. Do less talking and more listening. Get your bearings before attempting to be a bad ass. Be a team player! look for the guy in charge and try to follow his lead. You'll run into less complication this way.

Overall i think its fantastic how much we're growing. New players, new venues, things are happening all over the place. I thank everyone who has ever supported me or plans to support me and my events in the future. I'm proud to be part of the NTA community and want to continue to see it grow. This means we must all work together to attract the new people, and more importantly -- KEEP THEM.
