So, after hearing great things about John Willis' subloads, I decided to give his Patrol model a try:

The design itself is straightforward, with two mag pouches each capable of holding three AR mags, two AK mags, or two .308 mags. There are also two smaller pouches on the sides for pistol mags, flashlights, multitools, or other small items.

As you can see, this subload has the potential to be used with many different platforms.

The lids are long enough to accommodate AK mags, and I even managed to secure them with two UMP mags.

Questions are welcome.

So...how does it ride? Secure ride / comfy or not? High enough on your hip?

So far just fooling around at the house, it rides very well just where I want it. I'm only using the bottom leg strap since with my tree-trunk like legs using both straps actually felt like my thigh was being strangled. However, you normal sized folks shouldn't have any problems. I much prefer John's webbing to that of, say, Blackhawk since John's straps have enough give in them to allow for the expansion and contraction of the leg during movement.
