View Full Version : New goodies from the army/navy store!

I recently went to the army navy store to pick up some new boots, gloves, and BDUs. I wanted some MARPAT, but ended up getting some multicam. Surprisingly, multicam was cheaper in this case. The multicam is not the $210 CRYE padded future soldier outfit, it's traditional army style BDUs made out of the same thing the MARPAT was made out of. It's tru-spec, which uses authentic multicam materials...although I am a bit worried about build quality. The bdu set was about $80 so I'm not complaining. I was worried about spending $150 for MARPAT because momma always said I is a growing boy and I'd be mighty quick to outgrow me some MARPAT. So my logic was to buy some cheaper, medium quality BDUs that wouldn't last as long. Besides, I always wanted to try out multicam...it seems to work well in my backyard as well as the field behind my house. The real test was to see if it worked in wooded areas, and surprisingly it worked pretty well. I was worried about the amount of tan and olive, but once the shadows of the wooded area cast on the multicam it turned into some kind of proto woodland camo. My friend took pictures from shooting distance and it disrupted the shape up my body pretty well, it might cause some confusion or hesitation. I was happy but not overjoyed with my purchase, I strongly wanted some MARPAT...but that just didn't happen. On the plus side, I like how my multicam looks with all my gear, it somehow makes my OD chest rig look very brownish green, I was afraid OD wouldn't match, but it looks perfect! I like the look a lot better than my old woodland BDUs, and at the price some of the old woodland BDUs were going for, I might of picked up another pair just for funsies :). I also saw some nice vintage tigerstripe while there and contemplated about picking some up, but it looked a tad worn out and wasn't quite my size, but it sure did look sexy. Anyway, pictures from my lame cellphone camera:

I'm having the reverse problem with my gear, I have a multi-cam chest rig and nothing to go with it. Looked around for a while to see if any of the Army Surplus stores around here had some, but no luck in that.

Good pick-up.

Enjoy, the pattern is a nice mix to blend in a lot of conditions.

Wow, thanks guys :).

This place: http://www.nsarmynavystore.com/ had some multicam, and quite a selection of it. I bet some marine digital desert camo would go with the multicam chest rig if you couldn't get multicam. Anyway, pictures from my lame cellphone camera:

I forgot to mention I got new boots too...I used to only have just regular shoes, but boots were a must. After every skirmish my ankles would be a bit sore, so I just bit the bullet and got some good boots. The boots are goretex and are some of the only ones I could find in my size :(.

And yes...the hat does not match, it's my old woodland hat. I'm ordering my brother, whom I just bought a full set of ACU (which was actually cheaper than a full set of woodland), a JG m4 so I'm going to go ahead and order this:

Your second hat doesn't match, but other than that your setup looks pretty kick ass.

I like the new gear / look. Dont forget to tape up / secure the extra slack from your drop down mag pouch (for that extra hi-speed low drag look ;))!

Looks good.

As for the hat:
Personally, I'd opt for the HSGI cap over a no-name brand. They sell for the same price anyway.
