Our sniper is growing tiresome of the bolt action so we want to explore the option of AEG DMR. It was mentioned (thanks AW) that SVD is a good way to go and a fun way to go. What is the best way to go with this; buy a lower grade and gut it out/ buy an AK47 and get the conversion kit/ buy a used or busted and replace the internals?

I want everyone who responds to keep in mind that our sniper does not play outside of TEARS particpated events. So in all reality he may fire 500 rounds a year. Just an o'l country boy.

Thanks.

DW, if he doesn't play that much and isn't worried about it being beautiful externally, my vote would be to save some money and go with a low-cost chassis and then upgrade the internals to the specs he wants.

The downside of a SVD is battery storage.
However, a quality stick pack will alleviate that. I had DJGonzo make me one that powers my SVD very well and didn't require hacking at the gun to make it fit.

I concur with Wolv's advice.

I also went with Gonzo's stick batt, but had him create a custom 12v...which really wasn't necessary.

But then again...I've fielded Wolv's SVD more than I have fielded my own.
