Show up at noon; skirmishing starts at 1pm.

Please feel free to suggest and/or lead scenarios. Gameplay at TXPB needs it.

It is "I'll", not "Ill". That is your last warning today.

I will be there.

I should be out there.

How about a capture the flag the flag style skirmish?
-Both teams have a flag base (where can be worked out at the field)
-2 Respawns
-When shot, you drop the flag and head to your respawn.
-Whoever has the most flags in base wins. That means that possession doesn't count, which remove the incentive for someone to just hang onto their flag.
-Only one flag per person.
-The flag must be plainly visible.
-Spawn camping is NOT an object and is strongly advised against for this particular scenario. Those found camping at a spawn point (intentionally waiting in or around a spawn point with the intent of shooting people trying to respawn) will not be tolerated during this skirmish.

Another suggestion/request is totally mixed teams at least one skirmish. This means that Whiskey, Hidden Sword, FOG, ODG, unaffiliated, etc. are on both sides. I figure that this do two things. It will make people use more than simple visual recognition to figure out who's on their team (ofcourse, some do this already). It will also allow for people to get to know each other a bit better.

Looking forward to Sunday.

Peyton, make your flag thing happen. Anything is worth a shot once. It sounds like each side will have several flags? Do all the flags stay in your base at the start of the skirmish? So potentially, one team could grab all of the other team's flags at once, sprint back to their own flag base, and then go into defend mode for the rest of the time?

Peyton
12-23-2006, 08:31 AM
Wolv- it could be one or several flags, all of them located at your base at the start of the skirmish. This does allow for the possibility of a mad sprint in overwhelming numbers at the start of the game to grab them, but placing either teams respective flag bases nearer to their spawn point should keep it from getting out of hand.

The idea of this game is to force players to be involved in several different roles, and keep things changing up on the field. At first there will be bases defenders and base attackers on both sides, but from there I'm hoping that it gets more complicated.

Here are two updated rules that I'm adding into my previous post:
-Only one flag per person.
-The flag must be plainly visible.

Can you add that spawn-camping is not an objective and should be avoided? It seems to have been a problem lately. Spacing objectives far away from spawns helps with that.

Peyton

Okay- that sounds good to me.

Um, directions/location for us noobs? I might be bringing a fire team from SA.

Um, directions/location for us noobs? I might be bringing a fire team from SA. Right here in Austin Airsoft Info TXPB forum: http://www.lonestarairsoft.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=145

All, let's also note there is a Scenario forum with plenty of ideas that have not been used yet. Kudos to Peyton for putting forth the effort to run one. In addition to the move-to-contact and capture-the-flag things the community defaults to regularly, feel free to expand to some of the other concepts in that aforementioned forum.

I'm there! And that CTF type game sounds fun. Maybe there's a way to do some bomb-defusal, CS style games? That would be pretty fun too.

I would also like to propose that we run an escort scenario. I am going to read the scenario docs to see what they have, just to see if their ideas are like mine, but I think it would be fun.

Can someone install a Hop-up Bucking, and a tight bore barrel in my gun this sunday before the game? I'm not sure if CALI's going, so I'll give a bag of 5,000 .25 BB's to whoever can do it.

AustinWolv
01-02-2007, 01:16 PM
It can be done in minutes, depending on the type of gun. Assuming the type, sure.

Dang, All american, it isn't that hard to do. 0.o

Well you can tell me what to do and I do it I'm just afraid of messing something up.

AustinWolv
01-02-2007, 02:16 PM
All-American, devote a new thread to discussing something like that in detail. It will be easier to show you than type it all out. You still didn't list what gun you have.

In the meantime, take a look in your gun's manual for the exploded diagram near the back. That should give you an idea of what needs to be done. Then, run a search for "change inner barrel" and look for a topic about a M16VN....that will give you *similar* situation assuming you have an Armalite.

In addition, if you have an Armalite variant of some sort, take a look here:
http://www.mechbox.com/site/m733-disassembly-video.html

All you need to do is get the inner barrel assembly out after getting the upper and lower receiver split, not totally disassemble the gun so ignore all sections except for the ones I mentioned. You can leave the mechbox in the lower.

Now, back on topic:

Marimba

I'll do it at the game...that way I won't need to buy bbs!

I'm going to review the scenario archive again, but for now would like to make a couple suggestions. Let's keep the games to a 45min time limit and allow one regeneration. This way the inexperienced and unlucky will get more play time, even if they're popped in the first five minutes of the game. Also, let's make a point to turn the games around within 10 minutes of returning to the parking lot. It helps to maintain the tempo of our games.

All American

Never mind Otang told me how to do it, and its already done.

Is someone going that has bbs I can buy off them? I went to Academy tonight and all they had were the .12 and 2 bottles of .25. The .25 had 2,000 rounds for $10 each.:cussing: All I have now is maybe 2,400 bbs. Please help.

I also bought a camel back.

Somebody is bringing some AE .25s to the game.

I'll should have plenty of AE .20 BB's along with me.

As of right now I'm a little under the weather and might not go tomorrow, however I'm sending several bags of AE .25s with Ronin12B (Shawn) to deliver to those who asked for them earlier. Sounds like it will be another great turnout so I'll do what I can to make it!

How long are the games today supposed to last?

AustinWolv
01-07-2007, 05:33 PM
They lasted until a bit after 5pm.

Guys, that was some of the best skirmishing, in my opinion, that we've had at TXPB in quite some time. Good attendance and good simple scenarios that kept things interesting. Thanks to those who volunteered the ideas.

It happens, particularly when you are hanging around where I had seen opfor a bit earlier. ;)

Sorry about that though.

At least it wasn't as bad as Marimba's activities today. :p

Marimba sure redeemed himself with that sneak attack that wiped out our rescued 'helicopter crew'! Somehow Katana and I passed them in our efforts to sneak around OpFor.

Today sure was a blast. Thanks to those who volunteered for the downed pilots and VIP roles.

The first two game types were great. I hadn't done anything like that and it was a welcomed change.
