Continuous Full-Auto Firing Test of Available Mags
Test items:
-1 bag of AE .2g BBs
-1 nylon insulated CamelBak sleeve
-1 old canvas bag
-1 9.6v 3000mAh large pack
Test setup:
-Place CamelBak sleeve into canvas bag

Test procedure:
-Fill hi-caps with BBs.
-Insert mag into respective AEG.
-Wind fully.
-Fire AEG in continuous full-auto into CamelBak sleeve until it dry-fires repeatedly.
-Place AEG aside.
-Empty expended BBs from CamelBak sleeve and canvas bag onto floor
-Count them

Test results:
Newish TM M16 300rd hicap in SR16: 274 BBs fired (91% of capacity)
Old TM AK 600rd hicap in SR47: 269 BBs fired (45% of capacity)
New G&G UMG 539rd hicap in UMG: 217 BBs fired (41% of capacity)
Old TM G3 500rd hi-cap in TM G3: 323 BBs fired (65% of capacity)
Newish TM M14 440rd hicap in TM M14: 346 BBs fired (79% of capacity)
Unknown age TM G36 470rd hicap in XM8: 292 BBs fired (62% of capacity)
Hero Arms 3000rd AK drum* in RPK: 312 BBs fired (10% of capacity)

Mags not tested:
TM MP5 200rd hicap - Do not own a MP5 AEG; attempting to test in gas-operated MP5 may inject additional variables past typical AEG use
CA249 2500rd box mag* - currently broken, so cannot test. From experience, CA 2500rd box mag will feed significantly less than Hero Arms AK drum (for reference, TOP 2500rd box mag* a couple years ago would feed ~90-110 BBs which is 4% of capacity)
Easy Company M16 320rd hicap - didn't feel like it since TM mag was tested

*fully wound until mechanism started clicking. Obviously, the electric winder could be engaged during skirmish-play.

Yeah, I think I decided on the Mid-Caps.... Less noise, More Realistic.... NO WINDING!.... I mean, those 130Rd. Mags from G&P seem REALLY nice.... And, is that the ACTUAL ammount they will hold?.... And it said smoething about BB loading device required, Whats that?

The G&P midcaps have performed within spec from what I have heard. I believe several people have used them during Op Bulldog and were pleased with the results.

Midcaps will probably not be exactly 130 rounds, but should be within the 120-130 round range due to variances in the spring. Yes, I actually counted the BBs that I loaded in the midcaps. In comparison, the MAG G36 midcaps (advertised at 100-rounds) have only shown 75-90 round capacities for me, and this is AFTER I performed the MAG "mag upgrade" trick to theoretically boost capacity to 120-rounds.

By BB loading device, they mean some type of quick loader, like the generic M9-shaped loaders, or the TM M4/16 mag-shaped extra-large loaders. Having these loaders would make your life a whole lot easier than trying to feed the mags one BB at a time.

yeah, my friend is getting his first AEG with me, a G36C, and is gonna get the Mag Mid-caps also. So, should he do the magazine upgrade thing your talking about? And if he doesnt, how many rounds will he have?

On average the "upgrade" only netted me 2-5 rounds gain. While the upgrade itself wasn't that hard to do, I do question whether the effort itself was worth an extra 5 rounds. Other people may have been luckier than me and gotten better results. All I know is I will probably be reversing the upgrade and leave it at that.

Banshee, it takes maybe 10 seconds to load a 100rd magazine with the XL Loader, but that depends whether or not you're being shot at :D

4 mid caps would give you about the amount (but most likely way more) than an actually infantry rifleman would carry. In fact, in 1 hicap I can carry enough ammo for 2-3 actual GIs :). Just get some midcaps and work on ammo conservation, I generally only use 200rounds per round, lots of self control involved.
