I ordered my first AEG yesterday, the M4 S System, it will be here tomorrow. For the battery space problem I am going to order a crane stock or modstock. I have been researching them online, but I wanted to see what the local community had to say. So, if you have experience with one of these stocks, I would appreciate any feedback Specifically I would like to know what brand you have used and what size batteries (in mAh) are available, as well as the pros and cons of the stock.

I have a CA M4 CQB which comes with a crane stock. I love the battery capacity and the comfortable cheek weld when shouldering the gun. My battery collection consists of two 3000mah 9.6v Nimh packs from All-battery.com.

These packs work great, but bear in mind you need to buy crane stock batteries made specifically for the Classic Army crane stock, if you're going that route. There are similiar offerings out there that work for the Star brand crane stocks, but their wiring harness is too short for the CA stock (or at least that's what many product descriptions claim).

Back to your situation: since you've already committed to the TM M4-S gun, it will cost you $85 plus shipping to get a replacement crane stock for your gun, not to mention you'll need to either purchase or make a new wiring harness to route the power source to the rear of the gun! At this point I'd suggest contacting forum member LaPhtA about his custom-made battery slings. I hope he doesn't mind, because his work is in early production, but his sling will easily attach to your gun without wiring modification and allow you to run a large 8.4 or 9.6v standard configuration battery pack by moving the battery to a pouch on the sling, located near the small of your back. In fact, one local player is already using said sling on a TM M4-S gun like yours.

Hope this helps

I run the 9.6v 4200 from All Battery.com that I picked up from their ebay site. I use it in my CA CQB Seal and although it works, it is a super tight fit! The stock will not fully close when I run this. Other wise it's a great battery that seems to last forever on a charge.
