That's the battery I use, except I use the 9.6v version. I picked mine up off of ebay for arround $20-25 and it works great.

Talk about scrap cells that they threw together into packs, I bet. Fine for Airsoft, but I would assume high internal resistance, plus inconsistent voltage.

It's not hard to determine the line voltage to the motor. I have the test equipment...now all I need are the batteries.
