Ia was going to do the same upgrade as Young (I think it was) on my sr-16. I am planning on converting it to a sniper rifle but from what I've read the mech box is the weak point or at least from the sounds of it a frequent problem, is there a way to upgrade the mech box to another version. I guess a bit more sniper friendly version. I have also seen upgrades for the PSG-1 up to 550 fps. Would it be a compatable swap? Thanks guys.

You only have one model of mechbox available(if you have a V1. mechbox, then you can only use V1. mechboxes in your gun). I believe that some companies produce reinforced ones, but no, you can't upgrade to a more recent mechbox.
As far as "SR-16 snipers" go- you might want to look at the SR-25 (http://www.biggerhammer.net/stoner/sr25var10/). All it would take is a Vmatch barrel, selector switch to semi and safe only, and several internal upgrades.

I was wanting that exaclty. But I have a SR-16 already and the kit for a SR-15 http://www.airsplat.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=AC-UPE-CA-AO44M is pretty much the same as a SR-25 but 5.56 . I would love to have a SR-25 but money is a bit of an issue. I may start looking for a SR-25 and sell my current weapon.

I would check out WGCshop for M5 length forends as they tend to have quite a variety to pick from.
I personally would stay away from the Sr25 mainly because the receivers are generally a bit expensive and limit the types of magazines you can use. The SR-15-M5 route allows you to use the 5.56 styles magazines so if you ever needed to borrow a magazine you wouldnt be out of luck.
Just my 2 cents.
