Since it appears that there seems like a fairly large crowd of "gamers" here I was wondering how many of you play PC games and which games in specific.

I don't play very many games anymore but here is my list in no particular order:
Battlefield 1942
Desert Combat mod for BF1942
Unreal Tournament 2004
Quake 3
Planetside (kinda, I was only a beta tester for a few months)
Half life
CS ( a bit, though i didn't like it)
Americas Army
Tribes series

lots of tactical games I see. One thing I forgot on my list is the Delta force series, I had a few of those for a while, great games too.

Peashooter:
The trick is to preload and preorder off steam, that way you get it instantly when its released, no waiting in lines, no driving. ;)

Arsenic:
Yeah worms was always good for a laugh, had fun playing it with friends when we ran out of things to do.

Don't play many PC games anymore due to not having enough money to buy games or upgrade my computer, but I still play Quake 3 Arena.

Which games I play? Just about any Civ-style game, Europe Universalis, Hearts of Iron, the Ao's, RoN, C&C, SC, WC, and host of other RTSs (not much for Homeworld or Cossacks-style though), Fallout RPGs, Total War series, those old hex-board-game-turned-PC-game stuff, Mechwarrior and Mech Commander, lot's of Talonsoft stuff, and almost all of the builder games (Pharaoh, Outpost/2, Simcity, etc.), and the MOHAA series. I gave up on the online FPSs (DoD, BF specifically) since I still have dial up and no DSL in sight... Time Warner will get no pennies from me, ever.

Right now it's UFO Aftershock (X-Com's successor)... and then probably on to Call of Duty or Port Royale.

Why would you want DSL if you could get cable? It's just as costly but you get less bandwidth.

Have you seen if you can get Grande Communications cable where you live?

Well on that note there is actually an affordable fiber service by verison that is double the bandwith of cable (depending on how much you pay) and can even beat DSL/Cable prices while offering higher speed.
Its the wiring that will kill you though, expect to pay at least $150....
I know its out in Cali right now, I'm not sure if its made its way to Texas yet.

It won't be in Texas for a long while...I've heard of that as well, it sounds kickass. It's rolling out in areas of Cali (and somewhere else, I forget) right now.

30 megabit download and 1 megabit upload? Oh yeah! I think so!

Time Warner is the only cable option at the moment... no Grande yet, if ever, this far out and away from town. Right now, Grande pretty much keeps to the apartment complexes and other 'high-density' areas to get maximum bang for their buck. We didn't even get cable out here until this past summer... 9 months after we'd moved in! That's what ya get for moving into new construction half way to the boonies (well, maybe a little more than half).

I know how you feel. When I moved to Pflugerville in like, '95 or so, there was NO high speed. 56k? Nope. Fastest connection I could hit was 26.4k...horrible. Wasn't until about 1999-2000 until they even offered it out here.
