My friend wants to snipe for our team and i wanted to know if the Type 96 is an adequate gun for its price.

Yes, however you will need to purchase an upgrade for this gun; spring, cylinder set, and eventually a reinforced trigger assembly. My APS-2 is the older brother of the Maurzen L96 and the only beef I had with it was its lack of tightbore and adjustable hop-up, but you can purchase both of these at various retail stores both here in the USA and abroad.

The APS comes with a 6.05mm barrel which would be considered a tightbore. The alternative is to spend a fortune on a 6.03mm barrel which you need to clean every week. I had an adjustable hopup in my gun and it sucked. If your gun is shooting 550 fps the bb hits the hopup with such force that it moves. After about 10 shots your hopup is not where you put it.

Regarding the Type 96 I believe that it has a different trigger assy which is suppose to fix the problems that the APS has.
