I was looking to get a new sniper rifle, and I was wondering what the difference is between the SP M40XB and SP M40A1. Also, how is the APS-2 with the wood stock? Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

The M40 is hard to find parts for from what I have seen. I upgraded one persons gun and ended up putting a gas kit in it because you can not find the springs anywhere. If I was looking for a sniper rifle I would look at the APS, M24, or the VSR10 series as parts are easy to find.

The upgrades for the M40A1 are hard to find and very unreliable, i got a gas kit in mine and it had a leak after the first op I used it at. I would look at diffrent sniper rifles like an aps or something easy to upgrade and easy to find parts for.

The problem with the Gas kits is you have to maintain them religiously. ie pull them apart and oil or grease all of the seals. They are much easier to cock than a 300% spring though.

If you don't go with an M40 i would highly recommed any of the VSR series, there not the expensive and they preform pretty well out of the box
