I recently came into the possesion or a 1x40 Magnacraft red dot scope. I went to install the battery but i can't get the battery cover on top of the rheostat knob off. I have read the directions at least 100 times and still can't get the knob off.

Has anybody had this kind of experience before, and can led there expertise.

I have two red-dot sights which are similar to yours, but haven't had any issues in removing the battery cover off of either of them. The idea, obviously, is to grip and turn the battery cover without turning the knob.

I used to have a somewhat similar red dot as well. I kind of remember there being a slot on top of the battery compartment. I put a flathead in there and turned it while holding the bottom part.

Thats what I have been doing. I just can't get the bastard to budge. (pardon my french)

Okay this is rediculous. I tried holding the rheostat tight with pliers, and turning the slot in the top with a flat head screw driver and it won't turn. I've put so much force that it's starting to chip pieces off the slot.

I would say to try tapping it to break the threading loose, but then again, it is a sight. The jarring would more than likely be bad.

I haven't tried the jarring cause as you said it is a scope. I still can't get it loose. It's almost like they glued the cap on.
