For my SR-16 I want to mount a grenade launcher. Which is the best type for the money that will fit on my front RIS. I want it to use the Grenade Shell insted of the Shotgun Shell.

If you don't want the spring-type M203 by Tokyo Marui, I believe you only have a couple other choices, the Sun Project M203 and the new G&P M203 series. The Sun Project uses the gas-powered shells, and I actually am unfamiliar with the G&P series, in regards to what they use or if they are merely cosmetic. I would think the G&P's use the gas-powered shells as well, but can't confirm that at the moment. I would suggest doing some research on other boards.

You can view the various models by going to www.wgcshop.com and searching using the term "m203".

The easiest path would the be Sun Project M203 QD. It mounts directly to the RIS through the use of thumbscrews and uses the gas shells, as you've requested. I personally have one, and it is nice product.

However, be aware that the range isn't that great. To get pretty good range, you need to use green gas, be prepared to rebuild the gas grenades every so often since green gas will displace the inner o-rings, and possibly invest in an inner barrel set, which noticeably increases the effective range.

Overall, it is not the best Airsoft investment, but if your heart is set on it, rock on. It is a fun toy and more of a "wow" factor on the field than an useful weapon.

Whats the deal with mosquito launchers, are they even worth the money. And about what is the effective range of the Sun Project M203

Searching will yield you some of the info you are seeking: http://www.lonestarairsoft.sidworkz.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2162&highlight=m203

Mosquito Mold grenades (also referred to as MOSCART grenades) were long regarded as the best ones out there, but the newer GBTech shells are regarded as their equal as far as I can tell now. Both are the types of gas-powered grenades used in the Sun Project M203. Another brands is the ANGS shells, but they are not a good product in comparison to the other two.

Effective range of the MM grenades on duster gas is about 30 feet. Not good. Install the inner barrel set and go to green gas, and you're effective range will double in my estimation. The BB's will actually travel further, but the spread gets very large and they are moving fairly slowly.

Are those Mini launchers like this one even worth looking at?

or should i just go for the Sun Project m203

Shorter barrel length equals shorter effective range. If it is worth it to you.....that depends on your budget.

The G&P will use the gas powered shells. However one thing to note. All the accessories that you can find for whatever M203 you choose Sun or G&P are NOT interchangeable. I have the Sun M203 with the RIS quick attachment. I picked up a G&P front quick attachment ring and it would not fit. It appears that the length of the M203 is slightly different. (Not to be confused with the barrel.)

Yeah, stay away from the ANGS shells. I have one, and it just hisses when you pull the trigger. :( The BBs just sort of dribble out.

Would a Sun Project M203 shell work in a G&P M203 Grenade Launcher.

Any 40mm shell will work in pretty much any M203 launcher with the exception of the Tokyo Marui M203.

The other exception being if you have the MM inner barrel set installed, which was made to mate with MM shells. I believe it has a slightly different hole pattern than the GBTech, ANGS, and other shells.

Would a G&P M203 Grenade Launcher fit onto a Classic Army M15A4. The reason I ask is that I have come across some sites that say they will only fit on a Tokyo Mauri m4 or m16. If the case is that a G&P wont fit, then will a Sun Project fit?

Thanks in advance.

If you want just wait about a month or less cause Classic Army released their own launchers about 3-4 weeks ago. Their gonna be cheaper but still handle the abuse.

Thats what I'm waiting for. Supposedly Kastway is supposed to be carrying these soon.

How awesome is that. Im not planning on getting my grenade launcher until about early spring or late winter. I hope these classic army grenade launchers are good.

Classic Army has finally released their m203, but I havent seen anyone that is selling them. Has anyone seen any retailers for it?

10-17-2004, 03:25 PM
Nope...and I've been looking all over the place for it too.

if your looking to anyone statside selling them, keep an eye open on spartan imports they do exclusive wholesale of CA products.

Anyone heard anything concerning the Classic Army m203?

There's a couple guys on my team that use them and they seem pretty good. I've heard that the CA grenade shell is unreliable.

I have the military version http://www.ramrodairsoft.com/product_info.php?cPath=25_74&products_id=200&osCsid=c1ce400f59bbe9ecd8a350e6bf4e3776 I have never had a problem with it at all. Like Tim said the problem is with the grenades. Some are good some are bad. If you get the ris version you can just slap it on but if you get the military version you have to buy some mounting hardware. http://www.ramrodairsoft.com/product_info.php?cPath=25_74&products_id=206&osCsid=c1ce400f59bbe9ecd8a350e6bf4e3776

Overall it works just fine but in my opinion they are mainly for looks(thats why i got it)

Lets be honest, its why I am getting it. :-D I got money to burn this summer.
