Are high-speed gears worth the money? What sets are good ones? Should I upgrade any other parts of the gearbox before putting these in? Iím currently using a G36c with a PDI 150% spring and oiless bushings.

I don't think it is safe to use high speed gears with a PDI 150%. The highest spring you can use it with is a M100 I think. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I have heard the same about it, but my friends dad has an m16 running high-speeds with an m120. It would seem that a 150% isn't much faster than an m100 either. Then again, I have no idea about what is and what isn't a good idea with high-speeds.

How long has he had the high speed gears running with a m120? I bet that won't last a long time. Then again, I am no expert on upgrading.

Its more effective to run a torque up or super torque up motor or just run a higher voltage battery if you want a higher ROF.

High speed gears tend to eat themselves for breakfast.

1. No. Just use a battery with higher voltage. Instead of an 8.4v, go to a 9.6v. No need to go higher than that unless you are running a sniper rifle or support weapon with M130+ springs.
2. Prometheus just came out with their version, and of course Systema's high-speed set has been on the market for a while.
3. Metal bushings, spring guide. Those are more worthwhile parts than high-speed gears.

Just remember, the faster you make the mechbox go (in terms of ROF), the faster parts will wear out. You know the people that I see eat more gear sets than anyone? The people that run high-speed setups and/or use high-voltage battery packs. Save yourself the money and time lost in the field because your gun stripped the gears yet again.

PDI150% = M110 essentially. M110 is basically the strongest spring you can use with high-speed gears and expect reasonable life.

Thanks Wolv, thats exactly the information that I was looking for. I'm already using a 9.6 and was just wondering if high-speeds were worth the cash. I think I'll be spending that 57$ on highcaps now. Thanks again guys.

BTW, some good info on the Prometheus high-speed gears: http://www.airsoftplayers.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3245

Good info especially since the Prometheus gears run about double the systema ones. Redwolf has them all in stock currently.
