Car 15 or M16a1vn?

Well, I have decided that for my next AEG I want an M16 type weapon. However as most of you know by now, I hate blending into the crowd and want a gun that is fairly unusual. (that is why I chose an AUG for my first AEG) Therefore I refuse to get an M4 or M16a2 as everyone and his dog owns one.

Furthermore I have always liked the "a1" style triangular foregrips on the real steel AR15s that I have fired and rather like the "vietnam" look of these early M16s.

So which should I get?
Now before someone jumps my case, I have read every on-line review that I could find on both guns. I have also done searches of the forums. From what I can tell, both seem to be solid designs. What I am looking for here is persons with actual "hands on" experience with either or both of these weapons.

About th worst thing I have noted about the Car 15 is the fact that every single retailer I have looked at (aside from airsoftshop.com who does not have a "in stock" indicator) has this item listed as "out of stock".

Did you consider inner barrel length? CAR-15 is very short. A1 is pretty long. Guess which one will give you much nicer consistent groupings over a long range, thereby effectively increasing the range of the weapon? :)

Other than that, I have not owned either of those AEG's.

Is it really all that much shorter barrel-wise than an M4 or an MP5?
I suppose if that really was a problem one could install a longer barrel and slap a silencer over it. IMHO Car 15s look pretty snazzy with a silencer anyway.

Yep, you could throw a silencer on it, but that wasn't specified in your original post. :D And that would be unique and neat-looking.

CAR15 barrel - 247mm
A1 barrel - 509mm
MP5 barrel - 229mm
M4 barrel - 353mm

In other words, MUCH shorter than a M4, not too much longer than a MP5. One of the reasons I don't like using the MP5 in woodlands/outdoor skirmishes is because of the short barrel. The M1A1 barrel at 300mm is much better for example, but the M4 is a touch better IMO. Hell, I'm looking to stick a AK or G3 barrel in my SR soon.

If I decide on the Car 15 over the M16, I suppose I should check some silencer lengths to see what sort of longer barrel would work.
I'll have to see if the "knights" silencer I have been looking at will cover an M4 barrel.

On WGC, for many of the silencers, they list the length of the silencers.

LOL! You also need to get your eyes checked as well. M15 Pickelhauben have a leather body. Only the fittings are metal. But now I'm just being anal...:p

I'll check into silencer lengths. But I'm still not decided on which of the two to get.
