Jay

1. Show up at noon; start playing as fast as possible.

2. I'll be coming back from Brownsville this day; I am not sure if I'll be able to make it.

Eh, most of my friends will be out of town, I will most likely show up again with my springer. I'll rent a gun if I have the money.

Is that new CQB field up yet? I saw that in the paintball sup-air field they have a castle....is that it? Well, as for scenarios, anyone want to play pilot down, VIP, Escape and Evasion (I can explain these...)?

Einstein

Sounds good to me. CQB is preferrable if we only have a few players available.

cclark1985

The castle is rather small. Semi-auto weapons such as pistols and stock AEGs are the only guns permitted in the castle.

SPLAT
12-24-2003, 08:03 PM
Are we going by the 350 fps limit in there? That is basically stock on some weapons (i.e. AE MP5's). I can't wait to see that field, who wants to learn some cqb?

Bear
12-25-2003, 12:05 AM
Most "stock" weapons are around 280 FPS. Any upgraded guns are not allowed, I presume.

I would say 350 fps is upgraded.

I don't believe "official" rules have been published for CQB play, but I haven't been out to the field in a while obviously. Obsidian or others may have discussed guidelines on skirmish days that I'm unaware of, but Bear seems to be on top of the subject. Stock AEG's would be shooting ~280-290fps typically (a stock AEG is in reference to TM AEG's, not CA or AE weapons which come "preupgraded"). GBB's, unless upgraded, generally shoot less than 350fps on green gas.

Obsidian or others can probably clarify what rules they've been using.

I'm very excited to see this new cqb "castle" everyones talking about. SPLAT told me the castle is where the field "Geod" was. The paintball field with colored bunkers.

Seeing how I won't get my mp5 until December 29th, my pistol with green gas can play in cqb.

Cya in the field if I can persuade my manager to let me off.

Hi, I'm new to Airsoft. Played for the first time a few weeks ago when Jim from FOG invited me. I just bought a used AK from Jeremy (also from FOG) and wanted to play.

My question was, TX Paintball is the field NW of Austin right? Thatís the one I played at before. Anyways, Iím ready to play and hope to see you all there!

cclark1985

Yes, RevSM, TXPB is the field in NW Austin where you played at last time.

RevSM

Excellent, now I just have to make sure I have acceptable goggles and Iíll be set. ANSI Z87.1 is the requirement right? I have some goggles labeled ASTM F803 but I donít think itís quite sufficient.

Oh, and I remember you Chris, you Jim and I played that one-on-one-on-one match. :)

Edit : Actually on closer inspection the goggles ARE rated at ANSI Z87.1

Rev, if you're under 18, you will need fully sealing goggles (No glasses). Just FYI, but I doubt you are under the age.

RevSM

I understand, thanks for the info. No worries though, I'm old enough to have a drink after the skirmish anyways. Looking closer at the package, those goggles are also ANSI Z87.1 but I plan on having 2 sets of goggles, one that are fully sealed and the other that are just glasses so that I can use which ever the case calls for. So I guess now all I have to do now is show up. :)

AustinWolv

Regardless of age, TXPB mandates fully sealed goggles. Hunter's does not. :)

What do you people say we get there a little earlier this Sunday? I'd like to get there arround 11:00am and start playing by 11:45am. I'd like to run quite a few quick skirmishes using the castle.

Rayzor
12-27-2003, 01:16 AM
Sounds good. I'm sure we'll use the castle quite a bit this Sunday.

Here are some experienced CQB players, and it states the velocity and other rules they play by. Their around the same rules that we use, some slightly different, but maybe we could use their CQB rules.
http://www.floridaairsoft.com/features/rules.php

The reason why I ask is I just recently purchased an MP5-A5, and was wondering (since the velocity was 330 (or less)), I could use that weapon on the cqb field. Just wanting to know.

Rayzor
12-27-2003, 11:10 AM
If we used those rules, we would probably have to mandate full face masks. 330 fps would still be pretty hurty at the very close ranges.

One thing we could all do tomorrow is have a group talk about it to see if we can come up with some rules. If we come up with something concrete we can run it by the staff and see what they think.

Don't know about you fellas, but I don't want bloody welts on my face.

Katana
12-28-2003, 03:54 AM
Full face masks are always an option, and are the recommended level of face protection. If people make a choice not to wear one, they are taking their complexion into their own hands and rolling the dice.

I think it quite likely that many people will be suprised with what CQB play is really like, particularly in airsoft where full-auto fire is the norm.

I will make it out tommorrow, but I might be late. Hopefully I will make it out to the field by 1:00.

I would like to drop in and play tomorrow the only thing is I donít have goggles yet just shooting glasses. I would definitely come if I could barrow a pair from some one. I know Itís a little last minute but if any one would be willing let me know by a PM it would be much appreciated. :D

Texas Paintball is a full-service paintball establishment with a friendly staff that would be more than willing to rent you a pair of goggles while you play on their facilities.
